Description

The car is a matching numbers 1969 Sprite, purchased by the current owner 1/2020 as a COVID project. It was reportedly repainted in the late 1980s when the color was changed from the original green to red. The paint has held up very well and the car has no body panel damage, while the underbody is rust free and the interior is also virtually perfect. It starts, runs, and stops without any issues. The car wears 13” Minilite rims with new Michelin XAS tyres. All work on the car was done to a very high standard, either by the Bugeye Guy in Ct or by owner. The car comes with both the convertible, boot cover and the factory hardtop. The car was featured in Moss Motorings Magazine in the Pandemic Projects section and has taken second place in the North Jersey Touch of England annual car show and was invited to the “exclusive” Tuxedo Park Show. Following is the history with the current owner. · 1275 Engine and transmission removed and rebuilt by BugEyeGuy in CT (approx. 2000 miles since rebuild, nicely sorted) · Polished crank, crank and cam bearings, rings, cylinders honed, head machined, VP276 billet steel street performance cam, front and rear main seal kit, valve job with hardened guides, tappets, · double row uprated timing chain, · engine painted factory color, · slot drive uprated A-Plus oil pump. · Trans bushings/seals/gaskets replaced, gears/synchros in good condition. full clutch kit. Shifts very well, does NOT pop out of gears. · new manifold gaskets/studs, · new rear axel seal. · new: front performance Lever Shocks, · new tapered wheel bearings and tie rod end boots · new: shift lever anti rattle kit, · Petronix electronic distributor, · 3-point seat belts, · New master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder, brake flex hoses, both rear wheel brake cylinders and drums, · custom installed servo brake booster. · new gas tank and sender unit, new fuel pump/filter. new ground strap. · New: windshield, wiper blades, aluminum radiator, hoses, and heater valve · new: Maniflow performance muffler and pipes (made in UK), K&N air filters, · Tourist Trophy black leather 14’ steering wheel with chrome AH center push, · ACCU-Form dash cap, · NOS Key set from Triple-C, · Moss passenger side fender mirror in place of antenna (works well) · Replaced hard to grip Sprite choke knob/cable with MGB locking choke knob/cable. · All fluids changed including diff (80-90W), steering rack (90WT) · Entire under body including diff and suspension degreased of 50+ years of oil, grease, and grime (rust free), under body coated with POR 15. · Rebuild front and rear suspension, new leaf springs, wishbone pans (A Frames), fulcrum pins, bump stops and locating straps, · all new SuperPro polyurethane bushings for F/R suspension and sway bar. · New Brembo brake rotors and semi-metallic/ceramic brake pads, painted calipers. · Five new (from Coker/period correct) 155X13 Michelin XAS tyres · Replaced the original badly pitted Amco luggage rack with identical but much better period correct Amco rack. · Degreased/painted engine bay with “Eastwood engine bay black” · replaced rubber gaskets on all windshield wiper bases, new windshield washer hoses and pump. · Installed gas riser struts for bonnet (hood) new spare tire hold down. · Fiamm air horns, Moss 45-amp alternator conversion · Lucas Square 8 fog lights, connected via power strip to new/custom relay box for HB, LB, DL and air horns. · electrical connections soldered with correct color British wiring, where available. · Lucas Tri-Bar LED headlights with LED front signals. · Rear tail/signal lights were converted to LED “panels” from Classic Auto LED (very bright).
